Whe­re does the fes­ti­val take place?

Film­haus (Fes­ti­val HQ), Film­fo­rum NRW, Licht­spie­le Kalk, Off Broad­way, Tem­po­ra­ry Gal­lery. The fes­ti­val par­ty will take place at PÄFF. You can find the exact addres­ses here.

When do the doors open?

Doors open 15 minu­tes befo­re each pro­gram. Plea­se note: ent­ry is not gua­ran­teed after the program’s start­ing time indi­ca­ted on your ticket. Remai­ning seats may be given to peo­p­le on the wai­ting list to ensu­re as many guests as pos­si­ble can attend.

Tickets are available online only, through Raus­ge­gan­gen. All scree­nings have open seating.

Can I book tickets with my Cine­ville membership?

Hol­ders of a Cine­ville Pass can book tickets for free.

Do scree­nings sell out?

Yes, most scree­nings will sell out. Best to get your tickets early.

An event is sold out online. Is the­re still a chan­ce to get tickets at the box office?

If a scree­ning is sold out online, a few remai­ning seats may beco­me available short­ly befo­re the start. Plea­se arri­ve ear­ly and ask the per­son­nel at the cine­ma ent­rance. THey will tell you if you can queue for remai­ning tickets.

I have an accre­di­ta­ti­on for the fes­ti­val. Do I need to book tickets for the indi­vi­du­al screenings?

Yes, you can get one free ticket for each scree­ning with your per­so­nal code. With your accre­di­ta­ti­on code, you can get your ticket via Raus­ge­gan­gen, two days pri­or to each scree­ning from 10:00 o’clock.

Do I need tickets or reser­va­tions for the festival’s ope­ning and clo­sing ceremonies?

No, admis­si­on is free and is mana­ged on a first-come, first-ser­ved basis.

How does the ent­ry to the other free pro­grams work?

Loop: Ent­ry is pos­si­ble at any time during ope­ning hours; sea­ting may be limi­t­ed.
Vir­tu­al Rea­li­ty: Two vie­w­ing sta­ti­ons are available; on-site you can reser­ve a 30-minu­te slot.
Spot­light – Sebas­ti­an Fritzsch: Limi­t­ed capa­ci­ty (allo­ca­ted on a “first come, first ser­ved” basis).
Shorts on Wheels: Sea­ting may be limi­t­ed.
KFFK+: Free admis­si­on; limi­t­ed capa­ci­ty (allo­ca­ted on a “first come, first ser­ved” basis).

Fes­ti­val programme

What kinds of films are being shown?

KFFK shows all kinds of films, not limi­t­ed to any gen­re, regi­on or form as long as they are shorter than 45 minu­tes (most films are 10–30 minutes).

What is one pro­gram­me com­po­sed of?

Each regu­lar pro­gram­me shows 4–8 short films with a com­bi­ned length of around 80 minu­tes. Depen­ding on the pro­gram­me film­ma­kers will be pre­sent for a short Q&A ses­si­on after their films.

What is the best way to find more infor­ma­ti­on or get an over­view of the programme?

What are the fes­ti­val sections?

Are the­re ope­ning or clo­sing events?

Yes. We host both an Ope­ning and a Clo­sing Event, and admis­si­on is free for both. Plea­se check our time­ta­ble for details.

In which lan­guage are the films shown?

All films are shown in their ori­gi­nal lan­guage with Eng­lish sub­tit­les. Lan­guage and sub­tit­ling infor­ma­ti­on can be found for each pro­gram­me in the Fes­ti­val Catalogue.

Are the­re oppor­tu­ni­ties for networking?

Yes. While the­re are no offi­ci­al net­wor­king events, the fes­ti­val offers ple­nty of infor­mal oppor­tu­ni­ties to meet and exch­an­ge with other film­ma­kers and guests befo­re and after scree­nings and at our evening events.

Are child­ren allo­wed to the programmes?

None of the pro­gram­mes have an offi­ci­al appr­oval for minors. The­re are two child­ren pro­gramms with films spe­ci­fi­cal­ly cho­sen for or young audience.

All venues are bar­ri­er-free, inclu­ding bar­ri­er-free toi­lets, except whe­re noted.

Are the­re any dedi­ca­ted pro­gram­mes for peo­p­le with disabilities?

Yes. Our KFFK+ show­ca­ses a sel­ec­tion of films for the Ger­man Com­pe­ti­ti­on. Films will be scree­ned with Ger­man sub­tit­les, Ger­man audio descrip­ti­ons for the visual­ly impai­red and Ger­man sign lan­guage. The Q&As with the film­ma­kers will also be trans­la­ted into Ger­man sign language.
