Kurzfilme über Menschen, die ausbrechen wollen: aus festgefahrenen Verhältnissen, aus der Einsamkeit und aus den Rollen, die andere ihnen zuschreiben. Sie erzählen von Wut und Verletzlichkeit, vom Widerstand gegen patriarchale Strukturen, von Solidarität und von den Möglichkeiten, die eine Rückkehr in die Heimat eröffnen kann.
SHORTS ON WHEELS ist eine cineastische Fahrradtour durch Köln mitsamt Beamer, Soundanlage und Euch. An besonderen Locations zeigen wir Kurzfilme. SHORTS ON WHEELS bringt Fahrradkultur und Filmkultur auf einzigartige Weise zusammen und lädt dazu ein, neue Orte in der Stadt zu entdecken.
Short films about people who want to break free: from deadlocked situations, from loneliness, and from the roles that others assign to them. They tell of anger and vulnerability, of resistance to patriarchal structures, of solidarity, and of the opportunities found in returning home.
SHORTS ON WHEELS is a cinematic bike tour through Cologne with a projector, sound system and you. We show short films at special locations. SHORTS ON WHEELS brings bicycle culture and film culture together in a unique way and invites you to discover new places in our hometown.
All films not in the English language will be screened with English subtitles.

Vor fünf Jahren zeigte das KFFK aus Anlass des damaligen Jubiläums zum ersten Mal einen Filmloop. Das Programm erfreute sich so großer Beliebtheit, dass es zum festen Bestandteil des Festivals wurde. Zum 20-jährigen Jubiläum haben wir daher, wie damals, Mitarbeitende des Festivals nach ihren Lieblingsfilmen aus der Festivalhistorie gefragt. Entstanden ist ein Programm, das so vielfältig ist wie die Menschen, die dahinter stehen.
Five years ago, we came up with the idea for a film loop to mark our 15th anniversary. It proved so popular that it became a permanent fixture of our festival. Now celebrating our 20th anniversary, we have, just as back then, asked festival staff to name their favourite films from the festival’s history. The result is a programme as diverse as the people behind it.

Virtual Reality
Dieser Wettbewerb stellt jedes Jahr außergewöhnliche Experiences für Virtual Reality vor. Dabei liegt der Fokus darauf, Vielseitigkeit und Experimentierfreude dieses neuen erzählerischen Werkzeugs abzubilden. Lediglich eine Beschränkung auf lineare Arbeiten setzt der Auswahl Grenzen. Darüber hinaus finden sich hier alle Formen von Spiel‑, Animations‑, Experimental- und Dokumentarfilmen, darunter sowohl 360°-Filme als auch echtzeitgenerierte 3D Experiences (6DoF).
Every year, this competition presents extraordinary experiences for virtual reality. With a focus on displaying the versatility and experimental nature of this new narrative tool, only a restriction to linear works limits the selection. Beyond that, all forms of live-action, animation, experimental and documentary films can be found here, both as 360° films and as real-time generated 3D experiences (6DoF).
